Traffic Safety Program - Dayton Municipal Court

You may be eligible for the Traffic Safety Program (TSP).

Approved defendants, who have voluntarily entered a Plea of Guilty to a minor misdemeanor traffic citation issued within the jurisdiction of the Dayton Municipal Court, may have their cases dismissed by the Court upon successful completion of the TSP and payment of the non-refundable $250.00 program fee. In this case, no points will be added to the defendant's driving record.


Eligible defendants have an opportunity to attend a class conducted by off-duty Police Officers on selected Thursdays from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. The class will provide helpful driving tips on a variety of topics related to the safe operation of a motor vehicle. The Prosecutor's Office will review each minor misdemeanor traffic case individually to determine eligibility for the Traffic Safety Program. The minimum criteria for participating in the Traffic Safety Program are:

THE STEPS OF THE TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM

  1. Defendant requests to be screened to the Traffic Safety Program
  2. Court officials will review your case and driving record. Defendant is referred for the Traffic Safety Program if eligible
  3. Defendant will receive a telephone call from the Court about their eligibility and receive further instructions
  4. Defendant is advised of the terms and conditions of the Traffic Safety Program
  5. Defendant signs a form agreeing to participate in the Traffic Safety Program
  6. The Court Stays defendant's Sentence of Fines and Costs
  7. Defendant pays any warrant fees and the $250.00 Traffic Safety Program fee within 30 days
  8. After paying the TSP fee, Defendant will be scheduled for the next available TSP class and attends the TSP class
  9. Defendant signs TSP class attendance sheet and stays for entire two hour class
  10. Defendant receives a Certificate for successfully completing the TSP class
  11. Officer conducting TSP class notifies Court of defendant's successful completion of TSP class
  12. The Court dismisses defendant's traffic case

WARNING: NO CONTINUANCES WILL BE ACCEPTED AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR MISSED TSP CLASSES. THE $250.00 TSP FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
